Beyond Ballet

We all have seen the Sugar Plum Fairy in that glorious tutu dancing wonderfully on pointe shoes and the incredibly high jumps and endless spinning pirouettes performed both male and female ballet dancers whether in pictures or as part of a family tradition of going to the theatre to see the Nutcracker during the holidays. Classical dance is surely beautiful and handsome and often described as graceful looking. But, behind the scenes the graceful looking ballet dancer must take hours of ballet class which consists of a set structure of barre exercises and center floor work.

I describe ballet as athletic in nature, and students are often amazed by the amount of physical athleticism involved in a class, rivaling that required for popular sports! Ballet is excellent for physical health by toning and stretching muscles, teaching proper posture and body alignment.

Ballet also teaches the mental discipline required of all students of fine and performing arts. Invaluable lifetime skills in mental discipline in endurance, patience, and perseverance are an integral part of learning classical dance.

Giving yourself or your child the gift of ballet provides a lifetime of appreciation for the art form, physical health, and valuable mental skills that one never outgrows! We offer ballet for all ages, as well as combination classes that are a compact introduction to classical dance along with jazz or tap. Fall class sizes are limited!
