Explain the Levels?
Intro– This level applies to ballet technique is for people that have never taken a dance class or a class in a specific genre, limited experience in other genres, and/or need to build strength. Also good for those who want a very slow class with simple ballet barre and limited amounts of choreography. We usually only offer intro level for the ballet classes because it is the most technical dance style. Other styles start with beginner level.
Beginner– Some experience is beneficial but not necessary for those who are used to some sort of movement classes whether yoga or a group gym class. Class will feature explanations when necessary but proceed through warm up, barre, and across the floor at a faster pace than an intro lesson, or warmup, across the floor, and choreography in non-ballet classes.
Beginner/Advanced Beginner– Good for people who have experience and are ready to move at a fast paced class or those beginners who are willing to take the challenge. Chorography, warm up and barre will be challenging, but not physically “over the top”.
Pre-Int and Intermediate- For students who are advanced beginners and looking to upgrade their level, or students who are intermediate and would like a class with little explanation except where necessary. Class assumes you know all barre exercises and most frequently used ballet steps across the floor. Class allows students to enjoy their talents in a class the keeps them moving. In hip hop, jazz and other styles, the ability to pick up choreography quickly will be needed.
Open Level- Class with cater to the average student level in the room adjusting where necessary to meet everyone’s needs. Students who have little experience should be open to challenging themselves while those with experience should feel patience towards the moments where explaining a simple technique is needed. These classes are neither introductory or advanced, but will surely keep everyone moving, having fun and learning.
